basic:
full name: (Annalie Penelope Kokot-Louw
nickname(s):Lee; Anna-Bear ; Anna
age: 20
gender: Female
role: boarder (Possible trainer or instructor if you need one )
riding level: advanced
sexuality: Straight
play-by: Kirsten Dunst
apperance:
Annalie has a slight smile always lingering on her face and her real smile is a smile that one only sees four or five times in a life. Her lips are full and a soft pink. Her teeth are straight, but that's only because of the miracle of braces. She used to have skew teeth that she justified as teeth with character. Her smile has a welcoming quality to it. Her smile drifts to a lost, dreamy one when she is not working as she tends to drift into her own world and her own thoughts.
She has a finely constructed face and a pale complexion. She has a certain ghostly quality about her and a definite feminine look about her. She has deft movements and is very reserved with them. She uses her hands to talk but doesn't over exaggerate her movements. Her thin body is usually covered in over eccentric clothing or riding attire. With this she acquires curious looks from passer bys. Her clothing mirrors her artistic temperament and she finds no shame in wearing things many other would not consider wearing. Her face is always lightly touch by make up although it is never over the top. It is usually concentrated to around her eyes and a touch of gloss on her lips. When she is in a bad mood, tired or upset she will not bother with making herself appear pretty and not apply any make up. People see her as eccentric and she thinks its a complement. She is 5'4" at 56 kg.
Her hair is naturally a champagne blonde that falls in loosed, untamed curls about her face. She will tie it up loosely if it is bothering her or if she is riding but usually it is loose. She occasionally straightens it but usually couldn't be bothered. Her laid back attitude comes through in the lack of actual effort to look the best she can. She will attempt to look acceptable but couldn't be bothered to look absolutely fantastic. She tends not to be out there to make herself acceptable for the world but rather for herself. She sashays when she walks when she's feeling confident but tends to drift when she's in deep thought about important issues. Some people she her as aloof.
Her eyes are very expressive when she wants them to be. People know exactly what she's feeling if she desires for them to know yet she can close them down to show nothing. She is very much in control of her facial expressions when she needs to be due to her acting experience. Her eyes move to more of a green when she's angry and a tranquil blue when she's calm and happy.
personality:
Annalie has a deep love and concern for her fellow humans and is at her happiest when she feels herself to be in the service of others. She is a supportive and self-sacrificing and a friend to all (Mainly because she hates conflict). She intuitively knows how to cheer or heal others who are in a crisis. She also has a swift, analytical mind, dexterity and a lot more faith and courage than is often demonstrated by the others. Because of this she desires to become a psychologist. . She is a sympathetic and a kind person and skilled in the arts of diplomacy and leadership. (When she feels like it) She has an innate wisdom about what others need to survive and thrive. She manages to easily earn the devotion and respect of others and are desires to become a pillar of her community.
She is so self-sacrificing she is also in danger of working herself to the point of exhaustion. One of her life path lessons she still needs to learn is to remember to care for herself as much as she care for others. Another one of her life challenges is to make sure that she doesn't take on more than she can chew as this might force her to break promises that her would rather keep. She is a soft touch, so she is also at the risk of being taking advantage by individuals who might see her kindness as the mark of a fool. However her traditional approach to life along with it's ethics and moral values usually serves her well. Annalie allows people to take advantage of her. Unfortunately, it makes her angry and crabby and looses her temper with the people that are not taking advantage of her. She can be very impatient if she's had a long day, or a rough week.
Annalie is not the fit in the box kind of person. She is unusual and has unusual beliefs and approaches to things. Out of a work context her speech is sometimes hard to follow because she changes her ideas very quickly and muses to herself. She doesn't feel the need to make sense in ordinary conversations. She has not quite found the boundaries of work and play and tends to work more than socialise. She takes her work very seriously and it shows people her genuine side. She is very caring and open to people's ideas and pain. She is one of those people that draw people close and allow for them to talk easily without fear of being judged. She hates judgmental people and hypocritically, she is rather prejudice and closed minded towards them. This of course, escapes her knowledge because she refuses to believe that she is being hypocritical. It is a great blind spot of hers. To most people though, she has some understanding and most of the time has a great acceptance for who they are and why they do things the way they do. This comes through in her smile and gentle approach to people.
Annalie is also very good with children and animals and manages to charm adults onto her good side. Annalie can be hard headed and stubborn and tends to be very flighty when it comes to people entering her personal life. She can be very short tempered when she's had a long day or if she's upset. When she's very angry she tends to cry. She is a very calm person so she doesn't get angry quickly, but when she does she completely looses it. She is trying to work on establishing her boundaries because she tends to be a bit too considerate and people get away with too much from her. This makes her every tired but sometimes that extra patience pays off. She isn't afraid to say what she thinks and can sometimes be considered tactless with people that get on her nerves.
She has a very dry sense of humour and loves making people laugh and feel better about themselves. She can be a bit over the top at times when she feels as if she needs to present herself to an 'audience' as such. This comes in from her dramatic stage experience. Her and her speech patterns could be considered quite opulent and diplomatic when she puts in that effort. She uses her talent in the languages to manipulate people in the direction she wants them to go. She tries not to use this unless she considers it absolutely necessary. She is clever and tends to get a little irritated with people that are slower than she is or cannot follow her elaborate speech pattern. You won't find her anywhere near a club or anywhere with loud music. She is very cultural orientated and spends most of her time reading or painting in solitary. Her gatherings with friends are very civilized, although that is compromised by her eccentric behavior.
She is very dedicated to what she does and will always go the extra mile not matter the circumstances. This sometimes leaves her in complete burnout but she considers it worth the price. Annalie is very arty and paints in her free time to relax herself and connect with who she really is. She allows her ideas to flow onto canvas with a very informal approach. Se doesn't paint for the world but rather for herself and finds it very difficult to part with her paintings. She gets emotionally attached very easily to things and develops passions for thing. Her concepts are usually hard to follow or requires a lot of thought to understand but she is always happy to explain things deeper if one would just ask. She also enjoys writing poetry and reading and comprehending it as well. She has slowly fallen into more of a balance but still leans to more intellectual and cultural rather than other spheres. The only social she would choose over learning is helping people in her work. Annalie isn't a what you see is what you get type of person and struggles with opening up to anyone. She will open up to those she has become attached to and her the aspects of her personality is hidden to people and one has to look to see who she really is. She is very opened minded. Annalie is also a very calm person and under stress she tends to internalize emotion rather than bring it out to the world. She is very calculated and takes very little risks. Depending on the situation, she can throw cation to the wind and get herself into a great amount of trouble.
history:
Annalie was born in South Africa and lived there for 15 years before coming to America. Annalie was born into a closed minded, cynical family that bordered om being almost medieval. The household demanded that order was kept and her father was a very strong perfectionist and control freak and a well known lawyer. Her mother on the other hand was a paranoid, and rather irrational and over protective of her art but cared little for her children who were nothing less of status symbols. She works as an artist and has some pieces in the Tate Modern. Annalie and her twin Annamarie were brought up in a secure nest where the dark world was hidden to them. Annamarie, the more docile of the twins was happy to accept this but Annalie, who was the opposite of her twin desired more. She slowly tried to look beyond the walls of their state provided house that was the picture of class. Although her mother was an artist, she seemed to have a very limited picture of the world. Annamarie was very much like her father and was sophisticated and not in the least bit curious. Annalie on the other hand believed there was more to life than court cases and making money off cheap looking art works. She strated riding when she was ten and never looked back.
She was sent to an opulent school as a sort of, 'please forgive me for not taking interest in your life' thing. There she began to cause a lot of trouble and teachers resorted to yelling at her and deliberately humiliating her in front of the whole class instead of looking deeper into her misbehavior. Slowly she grew an inferiority complex and she became very quite. Her and her twin drifted apart and it became as if they're weren't related or even friends. Her parents pulled her out of the expensive school when she stopped working and put her in a cheaper school. Her she gained some of her dignity back as she was mainly ignored by the teachers. No one sought out to humiliate her nor did she cause any trouble. She slowly began to work and got good grades. Her parents did not bother acknowledging her new achievements and rather focused on Annamarie who was the dux scholar and showed great promise of being a politician. Annamarie was extremely popular where as Annalie was a bit of a loner.
Slowly Annalie drew away from her family and started mixing with people older than her. They were not a good influence on her and when it came down to things, they took advantage of her and her innocence and she became very callous and difficult at the age of thirteen. She began to feel as though her parents ignored her because she did something wrong. She slowly began to blame herself for the things that happened and became more withdrawn and gave up on having friends altogether. Instead she threw herself into school work and became a very hard working pupil. She was determined to show her parents that she could in fact do well. The teachers began to notice her artistic abilities and that was something Annalie did not want to develop because she wanted nothing to do with her parents.
In her isolation Annalie no longer had any people skills. Her parents sent her off to go live with her eccentric Grandmother in America, because she had become a shame to the family name. In her Grandmother's care Annalie slowly came out of her shell again. Her grandmother was very similar to her and showed her that it was ok to be different. She slowly began to heal and felt as though she was going to be alright. Finally, when she moved to America, her dreams of owning her own horse came to be. She met the love of her life (he was given to her because nobody wanted him) when she was 16 and they have now spent two wonderful years together. He was a racehorse, off the track with a good bloodline for racing but a terrible track record. Annalie could identify. Training him from scratch was a dream come true. It was hard work, and still is but worth every step of the way. He helped her get used to America and grow to love it. She began competing on him, building up from getting eliminated in his first class to getting second place and reserve champion in a showing show. The two specialised in Equitation and showjumping and Annalie wants to try working hunter and eventing.
role-play sample:
Dark hair whipped around Velvet's pale face as she stood in the threshold of the entrance into Hogwarts castle. The cold reflected upon her face in the growing pink on her cheeks. She shuddered slightly, the cold of the coming storm reaching into her very soul. The chatter of pent of students rebounded in the halls behind her. She grew restless. A warm heat wave enveloped her from the castle's interior. Stuck between the welcoming cage of order, and the bitter cold world of freedom, Velvet felt a growing anxiety within herself. The walls seem to loom like prison wardens, ready to draw her back into her cell. She gritted her teeth slightly. With one final glance, she returned to her wolf form, where she happened to be far more comfortable. The melting sensation of the transformation held as a comfort to the small Ravenclaw. The wolf loped down the stairs, away from the cage that had kept it from returning to animal form. The courtyard rang with the sound on nails against stone. The sound then melted into the sound of the coming storm. Droplets of water collected on the black fur of the retreating animal, as it slipped away from the courtyard and down towards the black lake.
The trail of paw prints followed Velvet as she found herself on a small, dirt path-- now a muddy path-- created by students unwilling to conform to the idea of pathways. The lake was now in view, mirroring the dismal dream of the day. A quick glance at the sky told her the promise of a storm. She ventured closer, straying onto the damp, lush grass. The air was fresh. Velvet took a deep breath of the sweet air, taking in its pure goodness. She loved the rain-- All animals did and since she was part of them it wasn't hard to understand. A couple of small birds bathed in a shallow puddle. The lost her interest rather quickly as she continued down the slope. The last few weeks were lying heavily on her mind-- everything that had happened in the forest-- and little Sapphire, was she ready for such a task? Am I? The voice rang sharply in her head. She quickly pushed those discouraging thoughts away. What shall come shall come-- and no matter how one tries to avoid it, it's going to happen. The chill was starting to seep through her coat and doubts of her sanity for being out in this weather began to rise. She had been moving into the wind. Unsure of her decision, she began to turn back--
A movement caught her sharp eyes. A human boy-- Velvet shook the wolf thoughts from her head. Hard to keep ones mind human when one changes. She looked back at the “human boy.” It was a fellow student. A Gryffindor. And from here he could have been about the same age as her. She sat on her haunches, her tongue lolled out in a wolfish grin. The desire for some sort of company had been growing over the last few weeks. This boy seemed to be different. Of course it wasn't everyday one meets a human eager to venture into the rain. She slowly began to approach him, wishing not to startle him. His back was turned. She slowly walked towards him, her feet barely making a sound on the damp earth.
She faltered as she saw him fall. Parchment drifted into the air, dancing in the wind like doves finally set free. She watch them with some interest as the danced towards her. Human feet, clad in simply boots touched the sodden ground. She reached out to catch some of the papers that had escaped their author's hand. She took a glance down at the writing-- it didn't quite seem to be in a language she knew. She squinted her eyes slightly to discover that in fact it may as well be English. Embarrassment crept in. She should not be reading anyone else's private notes. A small blush crept up on her pale cheeks. She felt somewhat vulnerable as she ventured closer to the Gryffindor. Cool, calm, collected-- usually her nature-- but everything had been turned upside down recently and those qualities seemed to be a distant memory. A simple blue robe danced around her feet as she made her way to the now standing boy. She wasn't a great fan of the school robes and quickly ditched them any chance she got. Being an individualist, a uniform went against her grain.
He was looking around now-- Liselle faltered. Scolding herself gently, she moved on. Of course he was going to see her, being the only person around outdoors. A small, soft smile touched her lips as she attempted to look at his eyes. The colour caught her attention immediately. She was a few feet from him now. The smile that had once touched her lips had faded. It was his eyes. They were-- amazing. She bit her lip softly, almost memorized by them. Realising she was staring, she looked quickly to the ground, a faint blush creeping up on her cheeks. She swore silently at her almost girlish behavior.
“S—Sorry,” she stuttered. “It's just--” She stopped herself quickly, regaining her regal attitude. She held her head slightly higher and gazed unerringly at him. A calm, distant aura surrounded her. Her damp hair fell across one of her eyes as she tilted her head slightly. It was curling slightly, in the damp weather, Velvet noticed with some despair. For some reason, it suddenly mattered how she looked. Gees, what was wrong with her? She repressed a sigh of frustration. She reminded herself that in fact she was supposed to care little of what other people thought.
“Here, you lost these,” she smiled warmly, keeping her gaze level. She held out the papers for him to take. “Are you ok?”
“You have really amazing eyes--” the words slipped out before she realised it. Her words stopped and she looked at him almost stricken. Wow, making a fool of yourself today, aren't you?
“Sorry-- I'm not usually like this-- I just...” she paused. “I'm Liselle.”
An almost helpless smile touched her lips with a small sigh. She didn't like to admit it, but maybe, just maybe, the last few weeks had unsettled her. Or maybe-- maybe it was just his beautiful eyes. She tried not to dwell on it too much.
Her blue eyes took the person in front of her in-- He was pale, almost ghostly, topped with blonde hair-- that seemed to look rather ruffled, straying into his eyes. That was one thing she found attractive as to say. Longish hair-- but not too long-- and slightly messy. She shook those thoughts out of her mind. He just just taller than her-- 4” to be exact. Another icy breeze danced through her hair, spilling it across her face. She took her fur lined cloak off and held it out to the Gryffndor. It was a dark blue satin, with a water repelling charm upon it. She didn't really mind the water, or the rain that fell upon her. It was like a refreshing breath of life, replenishing the world's vitality.
“Here. You must be freezing,” she whispered softly. “I don't need it.”
She continued to gaze at the unusual colour of his eyes, caught up in its serenity, ignoring the protesting voices in her head.
