( appearance )
Alyson is a pretty young woman, though she is not vain enough to flaunt it about. She is considered a bit short at about 5 foot 4 inches; she stopped growing once she reached sixteen. Which, I can say, annoyed her a bit especially since her friends seem to keep gaining some height. Her best friend back home in Australia, Leanne, especially, who ended being near five foot eight, which made Aly feel even shorter. Which is odd, since her height isn't all that short, compared to others. Aly doesn't mind her height at present; she doesn't find much to complain about it. As far as her weight goes, she is pretty happy about it. Alyson has always been slim, with curves she was once embarssed by-especially by how sharp looking her hips were. Her look is soft, very feminine, and innocent looking.
Her skin, a soft creamy, milky color, has the sensitivity of her father's. While her mother could spend all day outside, no worries, Alyson has to make sure to smear sun screen on if she wants to spend any amount of time outside that was longer than walking to and from a store or friend's house. Her dad is the same way. I guess some people just aren't ment to have a tan, which Alyson really doesn't mind, but it would be helpful if she didn't have skin quite as delicate. She does have the excuse of her blue eyes. Her eyes are really quite lovely, and she would appreciate them more if she had her father's dark hair, which makes his similar blue eyes stand out in a dazzling way. Instead, with her light hair and white skin, her eyes seem to blend in quite a bit. Which is a shame, because the color really is beautiful, you know darker along the edges. Alyson wears mascara and a thin layer of eyeliner everyday, just to bring her eyes out a bit more.
Long, blond hair, just like her mothers, spill over her shoulders and soften the features of her sort of square face. Aly's hair really is what most people notice first, sometimes out of envy, sometimes not. The color is so light that it is obvious that it has been bleached out, if only a little, by the sun. Another clue to this is that her roots are always just a bit darker than the ends, but not enough to make people think she dyes her hair. Naturally, her hair has a slight wave to it and Alyson hardly, if ever, tries to change it by either straightening it or curling it. Like most females, she does show interest in clothes and she likes to look fashionable. Although Aly's style usually consists of nice, form-fitting jeans and an in-style shirt, she does wear t-shirts from time to time.
( personality )
Alyson and her friend, Alex Prescott, are nearly opposites. If Alex is out-spoken and loud, Aly is more careful and choosey of her words, as if to pick ones with the most meaning. She isn't reserved, or shy exactly, just more quiet and soft-spoken yet she still manages to convey the same confidence with her posture Alex does with her words. Going along with this, Aly hardly ever yells, even when angry. She has always felt guilty about raising her voice at people, and instantly feels regretful once she does, usually already rushing with an apology by the time her heated words have escaped her mouth. She isn't one who angers easily either, thankfully, and she is a patient person, to a reasonable extent. This is a good quality for her desired job as an riding instructor. It wouldn't look very good if she was constantly getting worked up at every mistake her students made, now would it.
So, now for some less-favored traits. Alyson is stubborn, to put it plainly. Yes, this means she is really driven to complete a task, which isn't bad, but sometimes she doesn't know when it would be better to just call it quits. This stubborn streak has also led to some arguements, especially with family members, but it has also helped to her work better with her students, as she gets driven to help them succeed. Another thing is that Alyson is very modest, and not false modesty. She has a hard time accepting or aggreeing with compliments since she doesn't want to appear vain. But really, she doesn't give herself enough credit when she actually does something worth bragging about.
( history )
Alyson Evangeline Callahan was born to a British doctor and a native Australian. Now, you probably want to know how a doctor from England ended up with a Australian girl. It is pretty simple, really. Eerin was studying at an University in London when she met Richard, a brown haired, blue eyed handsome man just a year older than her. Eerin herself was a beauty, with long blond hair and deep green eyes. Call it love at first sight, if you believe in such a thing, but the two hit off right away. They met through a network of friends; he was a friend of a friend of a friend. So, anyway, Eerin and Richard dated untill she graduated, but then instead of returning home, like she had planned, the two love birds tied the knot and got married. Now, the two stayed in London a few more years, allowing Richard to finish up medical school, but Eerin was anxious to get home. She loved Australia and didn't find England weather to her liking at all. Richard was more than happy to travel back to his wife's home town, Sydney.
Just a little while after they moved into an apartment in Sydney, really only a few weeks had passed by, Eerin discovered that she was pregnant. The young couple were happy, yes, but caught off guard. They always knew they wanted kids, they just hadn't planned it all out yet. They certainly hadn't expected to be raising their first born in this apartment. Since they weren't in a postion to look for a new house, they had just bought this apartment after all, they just made do with the space they had. Eerin's pregnancy went as expected. She was a bit moody and hormonal, but she busied herself with little tasks like painting the small spare room and making curtains; small things like that. She completed her nine months and the baby came right on time, a tiny, screaming little girl.
Alyson was a minature version of her mother, an almost exact copy. The same bleached blond hair, full lips, short and slim form. About the only thing she got from her father was her paler than what was expected for Australians skin and her light blue eyes. Even as a child she was quieter, an obvious introvert, but she never lacked friends. The close ring of girls she hung out with were fascinated with her middle name. Evangeline. It wasn't a common name around those parts, and it had a musical ring to it. Early on, it wasn't unusual for Alyson's friends, and even teachers and other students at school, to call her by her middle name. Eventually, it was shortened to just Evan and thus the origin of her favored nickname. At first her parents refused to call her Evan, insisting that she should be refered as Alyson or Aly. They eventually caved, though it doesn't really manage to slip past their lips very often. Besides all of this, Alyson's first few years of school was pretty uneventful - there isn't much to say about school anyway, it was just an annoying, but unavoidable thing to endure.
The start in horse riding was really Richard's doing. He had done trail riding as a kid and insisted that Alyson Evan try it just once. After that first time, no encouraging was needed to get the blond girl up on the back of a horse. A lot of her friends found her newfound hobby unusual, but they didn't draw much attention to it. Her best friend, a dark toned girl named Leanne from America, was very supportive. Isn't that what best friends were for? When Evan was eleven, her parents were able to buy her an inexpensive pony, a cute little mare. Oh the memories. Acorn was the first horse she rode bareback, the first pony she jumped and the first pony she fell off of. Sadly, like it is with ponies, Evan grew out of Acorn as she got older and taller, and the mare remained her same, small 13 hand self. Acorn was given to another little girl who was just starting out and needed a confidence booster. That was when Minnie entered Evan's life, and then Toby, who was once a therapy horse.
When Evan graduated from school she made the decision to go to collage out of the country, like her mother did. So, she packed her bags and headed to the United States. Evan had her horses imported into the States and they kept her company as she studied animal science, business management and a photography class thrown in. While in school, she got jobs at the stable she was boarding her two horses. This is how she discovered how much fun it was to be a riding instructor, and where she found Noel. Honestly, the Tennessee Walker and her odd, but wonderful, gaits were compelling. Evan just had to buy the sweetheart mare. Noel was pregnant when Even bought her, though everyone failed to notice untill it was obvious. Evan has since graduated from collage and had opted to stay in America and try to find a job here.
