( appearance )
At the height of about five foot five, Alexandra is an average size with all of her weight distruputed evenly over her frame. She is considered fairly slender and she works out in the gym often since weight is a sensitive topic for her. In her younger, childhood years, Alex was a little cubby. She wasn't actually fat, but I guess you could say she had a little extra baby fat. Thankfully, once puberty hit and she had her growth spurt, even if it was a small one, Alex's weight evened out and her fittness workouts have helped keep the extra poundage down. And whiles she wouldn't be called toned or muscular, there isn't flab either. As for her skin, Alex has inbetween coloring. She isn't chalk white, but she isn't coco brown either. Usually, her skin is lightly tanned that gets just a bit darker in the summer.
Alex has a narrow face that is softened by her brown hair. Her hair has a bit of a wave to it or it will curl more depending on whether she air dries or if she uses curling rolls. She likes to keep her hair length fairly long, past her shoulders at least. Though she has never dyed her hair, it has some natural highlights that are a reddish color that makes for a more aburn look in the summer when she is outside more often. Her eyes are a soft green, which is loves, and they draw attention fairly well. As for makeup, Alex has never been a 'clump on the goob' kind of girl. The most she has ever worn is cover-up if she has a bad break-out and some mascara to frame her eyes. Alex finds a natural look much more appealing. Who needs to pretty up for a barn, anyway?
( personality )
The side of Alex people usually see, her default facade if you will, is her being a confident and out-spoken girl. She can be loud and talkative, sometimes not leaving enough room for others to fill in, or for herself to breath. This isn't to say she is rude and cuts you off mid-sentence. That is, in fact, one of her biggest pet-peeves; rudness. She is actually pretty quick to correct impoliteness, usually with a sarcastic remark, especially if you are being rude to her. Sometimes people find her almost endless stream of talking annoying, but then again Alex finds it easy to make friends, so some people must not have a problem with it. When in the presence of people, strangers or friends, she is pretty forward, usually the first to make a comment or remark. Besides being outgoing, Alex has also been called charismatic. She is good at getting people to see her side, though she hasn't always been very empathic.
Alex is a very determined person. Now, it is pretty postive to perservre and all that, but she also has developed an annoyance for people who call it quits. She has no patience for this, or much of anything. However, the positive end to this is that she can be a good motivator, you know, coming up with a lecture to keep you going. Although, people don't always like her urging them like that. Determination isn't all that bad of a trait, but it can cross over to competitive. Alex strives for challenges and competitions, espeically with her horse riding, but not everyone likes that competitive edge. Thankfully, Alex isn't competitive enough to cheat or lie or something; she is too honest to even think of such things. Now, for her temper. She doesn't have the longest fuse, if you know what I mean. If she is angry, you'll know it, because she is usually pretty vocal about her anger. Now, Alex doesn't voice her issues to the world, but she doesn't shy away from comfrontations either - and she doesn't often think about the conciquences of telling a person off until it is too late.
Alex usually has a strong, out-going, confident front displayed for all to see that few people see her soft side. This side is most often brought out by animals, particuarly horses, and her friends or someone needing compassion. Alex likes to be helpful, and there are times where she gets so gentle and sweet, she seems like a completely, more quiet, different. That isn't to say she is usually mean and rotten, because she isn't. An example of such behavior by Alex could most obviously be with her newest horse, Faith. The young mare had been abused, and Alex always gets that soft-spoken, gentle, protective way to her when around the horse.
( history )
Alexandra Lynn is the third child born into the Prescott family, the youngest girl. When she was born to Madeline and Charles Prescott, there was a young girl on either side to welcome their new sister. Anastasia, the oldest, was seven, and therefore old enough to remember the day Alex was born. Melanie was four and her memory is a bit fuzzy. But all four were there, on that warm spring day, each reaching out for their chance to old the rosey cheeked little girl. Right away, Madeline and Charles knew they had their work cut out for them with his one. As an infant she was by far the loudest, what with her constant crying and random noises. Once Alex learned to crawl, then walk, someone had to have an eye on her at all times. She was everywhere, hands always grasphing out, as children do, or she'll venture somewhere hazardus - it is impossible to completely baby-proof a house hold.
So, it isn't hard to believe that Alex had a pretty care-free childhood throughout her infant and toddler years. She roamed the house, played to her heart's content, and didn't have to worry about issues her sisters had to deal with, including grades and popularity status had school along with the discovery of boys, at least for Anastasia, as they grew closer and closer to being a teenager. As for Alex, she was completely excited to start kindergarden when her time came. She was very socialable and the thought of meeting new children excited her. To Madeline and Charles' complete surprise, Alex seemed to find that school lived up to her expectations. She had fun, she liked playing and making friends, though she did get in trouble a few times when she was talking when she wasn't suppose to. Alex's parents were very pleased; their other two daughters were intelligant, yes, but they also complained endlessly about school.
So, as she got older and older, Alex's parents were focused on grades in school. Like any child, Alex would protest when she felt they were making too big of a deal of her grades, but she was a pretty good student. Madeline and Charles' attention was refocused when they had twin boys, Robbie and Nick, when Alex was about nine years old. Some children, espeically the youngest child, feel ignored when suddenly they aren't the baby of household anymore. Alex felt a little jelously, sure, but she was so talkative that it seemed to force attention from her parents. When Alex finally started middle school, she was beginning to explore extra activities. Such as band; say what you will about band geeks, but Alex played the clarinet for a couple years, though she choose jazz band in high school to avoid marching band. She was also trying out different sports; dance, for a little while, and volleyball and softball. But the most obvious one is the horse back riding.
Alex really got into the horse back riding in the fifith grade and she started taking lessons. It was a few years later that she started getting into the natural horsemanship stuff and she started reading about t-touch and join-ups and training methods. Her parents were shocked by how focused she was about riding. They were also surprised they learned about all the things she did on horse-back, that it wasn't just a simple trail ride. Alex really got into learning both english and western, and later some reining and jumping as well. Alex was sixteen before she finally talked her parents into buying her her first horse, a seven year old Quarter Horse stallion named Candy Man, or Willy. He had that calm, sane, gentle nature that is usually looked for in a first horse, and he was also very athletic and talented. Gracie came just two years later, and Alex bought Stan and Faith just recently.
As for her high school experience, it was pretty average. She and her friends giggled about boys and made goals to get boyfriends, and fooled around with them when they had them. She both envied and hated the people more popular than them, who were mostly cold-hearted matieral girls. They went to football games, which were always too long and the game didn't make sense, but they had fun screaming and cheering and then losing their voices for the next day. When she graduated, though she wasn't validvictorian, Alex was pretty high in the grade ranking, and she got a scholorship to a college in Virginia. She is majoring in animal sciences with the intent to become a horse trainer, along with an english minor on the side. When she was a freshman in college, she met a junior, Alyson Evan, who was also taking animal sciences. They became close friends and now live together in an apartment, sharing rent and all that.
