The first thing one notices about Emily might be her height. Sure, she's not a midget, but everyone seems to like to make comments about the fact that she's only 5'2 - and seems to have stopped growing. The next thing noticed is only seen by her father, and that's early in the morning - her extremely wild, spiral-frizzy-curly hair. Of course, this is before she tames it, using a flat iron to meticuously straighten it, where it - thankfully - remains that way until she either sleeps on it, or gets it wet.
Of course, even if it is unmanageable in its natural state, her hair is something to see in color - it's an auburn-red, and grows brighter, more red in the summer under the sun, and darker, more of an oak brown, in the winter when it's not so bright. The color matches her green eyes perfectly, and yet with green eyes and red hair she's yet to have a freckle anywhere on her body, though tanning is quite out of the question.
Her build is truly athletic - she's not very curvy, and it doesn't seem she'll develop that way either, though there's always hope. She's like a stick for the most part, but not in a boyish way - just in a very slender, feminine way.

The one thing most everyone knows about Emily is that she's quiet, withdrawn - she's just not much of an outspoken type of girl. This isn't to say she's unfriendly - no, she'll smile at you, or talk to you if you strike up a conversation - but she's definately not one to introduce herself first. Because of this, and the fact that she makes relatively good grades in school, most people tend to think she's just an uncool loner.
But if there's any group that Em would fit in with, it would be the rebels. It was because of this that she got sent to live with her father - her mother couldn't handle the fact that her daughter was sneaking behind her back to get her bellybutton pierced, then her nose, and the next thing she knew Em had two tattoos as well. She often refuses to listen to authority, and just awaits the day when she can get her own car and go wherever she pleases.
One of Emily's biggest faults is how openly emotional she is - she's not one to hide what she's feeling, and she'll let you know if she's pissed, sad, happy, or whatever it might be. This coupled with the desire to find someone to trust in - which means she trusts way to easily - is simply opening the girl up for hurt, but she doesn't realize this and probably wont until something happens.

Emily's parents were both very well off when they met - and combining their wealth and status, it only continued to grow. In Australia, they were often the favorite couple in the tabloids, him a famous movie director, Adam Stewart, her a celebrated fashion designer, Annalise Hoffman. Their coupling brought about one child, and one was enough - Emily was followed around from birth.
Things only got worse when, at the age of 8, her parents divorced. It was a loud, messy, publicised thing, as was the affair that Em's mother had been in with a competiting movie director. At first, when she realized that her movements were tracked like prey, it didn't bother Em. Nine, ten, eleven, twelve - she could care less that the poparatzi hounded her. But as she became a teenager, little Emily began to be bothered by this, and as she got bothered, she got rebellious. It didn't help that her mother tried to appease her with material things - money, her own credit card, a cell phone... Emily struck out angrily, getting piercings, tattoos, anything to physically voice what she was vocally unallowed to say in public: that she hated her life, her mother, everything.
Finally, Annalise could no longer handle things. She packed up her daughter and sent her away - very far away. Overseas in fact, to America, and to her father's new home, Roanoke, Virginia. Em is unaccustomed to the small town life, preferring large cities, but she's adjusting much better without the press hounding her.
