Christina Alvarez
[/center]
basic:
full name: Christina LaJoyce Alvarez
nickname(s): Chrissy, Chris
age: 22
gender: Female
role: Professional Rider, Boarder, Trainer,
riding level: Advanced
sexuality: Homosexual
play-by: Piper Perabo
apperance:
Christina has medium-toned golden skin, it tans to look dusky, but seems to always remain beautiful and flawless - she's past the age of acne, thankfully. Her eyes are chocolate in color, deep and beautiful, though they are often guarded. Her hair is naturally light brown, but in the summer it naturally fades to blond, while during the less sunny seasons she keeps it highlighted.
Chris is slim, but not a stick by any means - she has plenty of curves, just not over-the-top. She has long legs, forming most of her 5'7 height, and one hundred and thirty pounds of lean muscle and minimal body fat are evenly distributed throughout her form.
personality:
Christina is a rather distrustful person – about everything. She never trusts anyone right away, and it takes a long time or a special connection for her to tell anyone much about herself at all. Her past is pretty much a secret, though it’s hardly ‘extremely’ tragic, and her personality seems to be a mystery to all. She was always the friendly type on the outside, seeming to be open to everyone, but truly she’s never really honest about what she’s feeling.
If Chrissy is bothered by something, she hides it exceptionally well, going on about her day as if nothing is wrong. And if anyone is skilled enough to see through the façade and ask her what’s wrong, she denies any problem with her world, continuing on as if her life is perfect. If she’s ever pissed it comes out in silence – that is, she’s mostly quiet, saying very little and making almost no eye or physical contact with anyone, at all.
Chris is guarded. She refuses to let herself become close to people due to her past, and especially won’t let herself rely on anyone – physically or emotionally. She relies only on herself and, to the outside world, seems competent, confident, and strong. On the inside, she has issues, but Christina would never really admit this to herself, and especially would never confide about her problems to anyone else.
Despite all her problems, Chris makes a great and loyal friend. Although she would never talk to someone else about her issues, she’s always there as a shoulder, even if she doesn’t know the person that well. She’s someone that’s great to party with, and to talk to on a shallow level – she enjoys such petty games like truth or dare and going out for a drink – or a smoke, because unfortunately, Chrissy isn’t above drugs. She does enjoy shopping, and while a tomboy for the most part, she can still have her moments where she wants to buy and wear something pretty.
Christina tends to connect with everyone due to her purely surface easy-going personality, gaining her many ‘friends’, though none she truly trusts.
history:
Christina’s father left before she was even born. Her mother raised her alone, with always at least one horse on their three acres of land, sometimes two. Goats and dogs also accompanied the equines, so that Chris was always raised around farm animals. However, her mother wasn’t nearly as great as the animals – she was a drunk, and stayed in that condition from the time she woke up until the time she went to sleep, not quite the greatest influence for Chris. But her younger years passed uneventful, for the most part.
As a young child, Christina was molested by a man – and lost all trust for males. She even came to have a certain dislike for male animals, especially dogs – as she was attacked by a male dog a couple of years later. Females were her main environment, both in animals, parenting, and socially. As she grew older, and puberty hit, along with those lovely hormones, Christina tried to find interest in guys like other girls did – but to no avail. She kissed, made out with, and fooled around with a few… But it got her nowhere.
As she became a teenager, she also obtained an interest in horses. The summer of her twelfth year she went to summer camp on a spur-of-the-moment decision by her mother. The last day was for trail rides – and it was then that her aspirations for riding began. When she returned home she begged her mother for lessons, but ‘the budget’ wouldn’t afford it – of course, ‘the budget’ was her mother’s alcoholism. But Chris didn’t give up. She looked around her hometown for stables, and found a farm where the trainer was willing to exchange a day’s hard work for a lesson. This routine began, and Chrissy excelled in English equitation riding.
Another thing she got as a blossoming teenager was an attraction to other girls. She hid this for quite a while, though when turning thirteen finally admitted to herself she was bisexual when an attempt to have sex with a guy ended unsuccessfully. It was then she fully bloomed, going to ‘different’ parties and exploring her new sexuality. She lost her virginity – to a girl – at the age of fifteen at one of those parties, and when she was 16, had realized she was completely lesbian. There was no attraction toward guys – and never had been. But it wasn’t until she was nearly 17 that she finally admitted it to her friends.
During this period of growing up in personality and maturity, she also advanced her riding skills. By her second year she was doing hunter courses, along with the aid of her father – who showed up on her 16th birthday and began sending money through the mail. In her third year of riding she began showing, riding a chestnut quarter horse mare by the name of Isabella. By her fourth year she was riding Isabella in novice courses and doing jumper courses on a bay appendix quarter horse gelding named Clint.
It came as a shock to Christina, when on her 18th birthday, she got a letter from a lawyer. He expressed that he was her late paternal grandmother's lawyer, and that she had left Christina a tidy amount of money. Though with a large amount of money padding her bank account, and always a good amount stuffed in her wallet, Christina didn't leave the rather lower-class barn she'd rode at all her life. No, but she did buy several horses, two at first, then another at a later date, and then finally, one more.
Christina was a worker, however. She continued to earn a half-decent amount of money living with a couple of friends in an apartment after she graduated, working as a stable hand at the barn she rode at. At a bar on her 21st birthday she met another woman, beautiful, sophisticated, mature – everything Chris had ever looked for. They connected right away, though the relationship was kept quiet. It lasted for a year before Chrissy began pushing the girl to come out about herself and their relationship. It was then that her first love told her she wasn’t really lesbian, wasn’t in love with Christina, and that she had deep feelings for someone else – a man. She blamed Chris for her own lack of interest in girls, hurting Christina deeply.
Christina tried to go on with her life, however, the town she'd lived in all her life now held too many painful memories. She packed up her bags, bought a trailer, and moved away from her hometown, finally deciding on a destination: Roanoke, and Autumn Hills Equestrian Center.
role-play sample:
You had to have respect for barn owners who kept their facilities neat when there were actual barn animals involved. Despite the fact that the place was for horses, everything was kept neat, perhaps not spick-and-span, but you didn’t see cobwebs in every corner like Christina had at her old barn where she used to ride. Dressed for riding in jeans, a t-shirt, and black boots and half-chaps, she was the picture of casual-but-serious rider. Her boots made soft clomping sounds as she strolled down the aisle, finally arriving at her mare’s stall, where Coralee, recently let in from the pasture, was eating hay. She grabbed her nylon halter and lead rope and opened the door, freshly oiled so that it gave her no protest, and entered the stall. The mare flicked her ears back and stomped a hind foot, but Chris expertly maneuvered around her hind end and approached the mare’s left side. Clicking softly to her, she slid the lead rope over her neck and nudged her; reluctantly the paint mare lifted her head for Chrissy to put the halter on. Securing the buckle, she removed the rope from her mare’s neck and led her out of the stall.
Coralee’s hooves clomped much louder than Christina’s boots on the cement floor, until silence prevailed again once Chris had halted her and clipped her to a cross-tie. Now it was just the soft steps of Chris as she moved to a grooming box and removed a curry comb, dandy brush, soft brush, and hoof pick. Cora would look her best for the first impression on the trainer, Chris was determined. She began by currying, loosening up all the dirt and stray hairs everywhere on Cora’s body – except of course for her spine and face – then switched to the dandy brush, using this everywhere but her face. The soft brush she used precisely everywhere, thanking the mare silently for not getting into any horrible amount of mud – her legs were mostly clean, and the curry comb had solved the little amount of dirt on them. She replaced all the brushes and retrieved a hoof brush, with hard bristles for use on the entire hoof. She picked out all four, then brushed them, removing dirt from both the bottom and the outside.
After that the process was routine. She tacked up the mare, throwing on the lime green square pad, then the white saddle pad, and the saddle. She girthed her up without too much hassle – the mare simply twitched her ears back but didn’t bare her teeth or even throw her head – and bridled her easily. She retrieved her helmet and put it on, securing it before taking Coralee into the arena. At the mounting block she tightened the girth as she’d learned to do when she first started riding, checking it to make sure it was secure, tugging on the stirrup to make sure the saddle didn’t move too much. Then she stepped up on the block and put her foot in the stirrup, swinging agilely onto the mare’s back and putting her other foot in the stirrup. She picked up the reins and directed her mare onto the rail, gliding up into an effortless two-point position to stretch her legs, walking like this for a lap then sinking back down into the saddle. She glanced around for Kaylee Parker, her new trainer, unsure what she would want to see first.

Knight
basic:
registured name: Daring Knight
barn/ nick-name: Knight
breed: Oldenburg
age: 8 Years
height: 17 hh
gender: Stallion
owner: Christina Alvarez
training:
disiplined: Regular Working Hunter - Has jumped as high as 4'9
Equitation
Hunter Under Saddle
training level: Well trained - "Made"
being trained: No
in depth:
short description: A tall, well built and well-defined example of an Oldenburg stallion. Refined but not thin legs, good body length but not too long of a back, nice headset. Black with four white stockings and a white blaze, brown eyes.
short temperment: Knight is a willing stallion - very gentlemanly, and not at all wild as one might associate with his gender. He knows his job well, but if his rider doesn't he will take advantage - thus, only experienced riders that know the horse will likely ever sit on his back.
history: Knight would be the first horse Christina purchased when she turned eighteen, being four years old at the time and just trained to jump. She worked with him, calming his temperment with consistency and work, finishing out his training by age seven.
other: Nada.
King
basic:
registured name: Regal Run
barn/ nick-name: King
breed: Oldenburg
age: Six
height: 17.3 hh
gender: Stallion
owner:Christina Alvarez
training:
disiplined: Level Four Showjumping
Equitation
training level: Well trained under saddle and on the smaller jumps, still being trained on larger and scarier jumps. Has jumped as high at 5'
being trained: Level 3 Showjumping
in depth:
short description: Tall. REALLY tall, at almost eighteen hands at the withers, King is probably the largest horse Christina will ever want to own. He's well built, very muscular, but classic refined look all the same. Very manly, very straight nose. Bay tovero, brown eyes.
short temperment: King is spoiled on the ground, and though Christina knows she could prevent it, he's daring under saddle. It's not beneath this young horse to throw a few bucks on the flat, or even coming off of fences, or between them - and with hindquarters that size, those bucks are like jumps of their own. Christina's taken a fall several times, but nothing very serious, and otherwise he's a teddy bear on the ground, and a joy to ride with such a personality.
history: Christina purchased King when he was three years old, starting him under saddle herself and training him to everything he knows. She holds a special bond with this horse, whom she bought second.
other: Nope.(optional)
Dolly

gender: Mare
owner: Christina Alvarez
training:
disiplined: Western Pleasure

Ranch
Bareback
training level: Well-trained, completely "made"
being trained: No way
in depth:
short description: The shortest horse Christina owns, and probably would ever want to own, Dolly stands at 15 hands. She's a beautiful tobiano, with a large amount of white and a little color showing she's bay. Perfect example of a paint stock horse, with not thin but not thick bones, and a refined, feminine face. One eye is brown, one eye is blue.
short temperment: Dolly is like the mama of the group. She takes care of whoever is on her back, and has that rare but valuable ability to "know" what level her rider is at, and more, what her rider wants from her. Whether hard reining work or bareback with a halter, Dolly's perfectly behaved.
history: The third horse Christina bought, she purchased this mare all ready to go at eight years of age. She loves the mare's easy-going temperment and this is her hop-on-whenever horse, though she does show her as well.
other: Nupe.(optional)
Pete

being trained: Introductory Level Dressage
Training Level Dressage
in depth:
short description: Pete is almost at Dolly's level of height, being just one inch taller than her at the withers. He's a beautiful example of a Gypsy Vanner, thick bones, built round. Gorgeous bay tovero, with brown eyes.
short temperment: A gentleman, for sure. Pete tries his hardest to do what he's asked, though sometimes can be a bit confused - he is a draft, after all. Nevertheless, he's got that drafty temperment, calm, not the slightest bit spooky even at his age.
history: This was the fourth horse Christina bought, right before she decided she wanted to move. She works heavily with him, teaching him the basics of dressage to build on that natural ability.
