Jen stands out simply because of her brilliant mane of red hair. Standing next to her mother, you can instantly see the resemblance. Her hair, however, unlike her sister and her mother, is board straight. She has not a curl on her head and though she envys girls with wavy hair, Jen find's her own red mob much easier to take care off. All she has to do is let it air dry after her shower, then run a brush through it to untangle the knots. Jen certainly isn't jealous of all the time Rosie claims to put into her hair, what with all that conditioner and special "frizz-ease" shampoo. Like her sister, Jennifer has let her hair grown out and it is past her shoulders. She has bangs to one side and usually parts her hair not in the middle, but to the side. Her face is what would be called heart-shaped, with a rounded look, and her startling blue eyes stand out against her pale skin - all odds seem to be against her ability to get a tan.
More than anything does Jen resemble her mom. They are both short, which is why Jen has no worries about outgrowing her pony. She has reached the height of about 5'2'' and hasn't grown since. While she has always been slender, Jen has a soft look to her and she is more curvy than her light-pole sister, who certainly towers over her. Jen once again envys her sister's figure, even though she know's her sister adores Jen's. As stated, Jen's pale skin and red hair is so very different than her father's blond hair, tannned tough skin. The only thing she seemed to have gotten from her dear father is her eye color, the same exact shade that Jen, Rosalie and Tyler share.

While Rosalie at least tries, and usually succeeds, at creating a false front when uncomfortable, Jennifer hasn't quite reached that level of talent. So basically, when she is comfortable, you know it and when she feels out of place or uncomfortable, you know it. As a rule, the stables or by her friend's side is always a place of security, but out on her own in school or the street, where she is surrounded by strangers or not so well liked people, Jen feels insecure. At school there is really no need. Sure, she isn't popular, but she isn't unpopular either. Even if she isn't quite aware, most people see her as she is: shy, but very nice, and smart. Jen just isn't quite sure where she fits in with the crowds and can be self-consience around peers. So, while she is attempting a "confident front" like her sister, people are still able to see through and tell exactly what she is feeling. An open book, her mother would always say.
Even though she is too shy to branch out very much, Jennifer is a very good canidate for a friend. She is very nice, so sweet, and Jen finds it hard not to like somebody. She is very open minded and non-critical; she isn't one to make judgements this one. Jen makes sure to be true to her word and reliable. Who would want a lying friend? Not her, and Jen certianly doesn't want to be that friend. If she makes a promise, she trys her hardest to keep it; tell her a secret, she'll take it to the grave. Jen is a loyal person who hates being someone's bad side. So, ever hear that saying about "gingers having quick tempers"? Some people expect Jen to get angry easily, but she doesn't and in fact hates it when people make a reference to that saying. Though, thankfully, unlike her friend Jake, when Jen gets angry she doesn't vent through her fists. Actually, she usually doesn't vent at all - her face will flush and her eyes will narrow, but she hardly ever yells at people. But you know what they say, it is never good to keep it all in.

Any horse rider, or even non-horse riders, can be drawn to the excitment of a rodeo. Even Rachel Beckett, who was a devoted english rider, ventured to such an event at the age of 18. She came for the riding but stayed for the rider. She met a young reiner, a man who was 5 years older than her, and was instantly smitten. Tyler Walker was quite fond of the red-haired beauty as well, and she liked him enough to travel to Nevada to his ranch and eventually married him, less than a year later. Their relationship started quick and they would soon find that it ended quick as well. Tyler became a sort of mentor to his new wife, insisting that she improve her western skills and take part in round-ups and such. She agreed, jumping into it all with enthuasim, but still kept up her english riding with persistance. She ignored the jeers from ranchers and even the skeptical looks from her husband whenever she pulled out the jumping saddle - she must admit it looked odd for someone to be practicing dressage in the middle of cow country, but she could care less.
At the young age of 19, Rachel had her first child. The little girl dubbed Rosalie was as blond and blue eyed as her father, but her hair curled into tight ringlets just like her mother. Surprisingly Rachel found bliss in her early motherhood, she glowed with happiness at the thought of her beloved family. About 2 years later, Rachel gave birth a second time. Once again to a blue eyed blond girl, whos hair was straighter than her sister's but still wavy. Both Heleena and Rosalie showed that their parent's love for horses surfaced in their offspring. Both were on horse-back as soon as they could walk, if not sooner. They both even recived their own pinto pony, the pinto twins as they were called on the ranch. Heleena's first pony of her own was named Lily and Rosie's was named Hugo. The family was quite happy, though Rachel and Tyler's marriage became strained.
When Heleena was 9 tragic hit her life. First, Lily contracted colic and had to be put down, and secound, Rachel moved them all back to her hometown in Virgina after a very bad fight with Tyler, which ultimately ended their marriage. Heleena was sad about leaving the ranch, though she harbors angry feelings toward her father, blaiming him for the divorce. Once in Virginia, Rachel bought Teddy, a 4 year old New Forrest Pony, for Heleena. Of course she adored the bay pony and was soon competing the gelding in jumping competitions. Dressage didn't appeal to her much but she loved cross-country and statium jumping; Rosie enjoyed the whole ensamble. Soon after moving back to Virginia, Heleena met Jacob.
Jacob Dawson was the son of her mother's best friend from childhood. She discovered he too rode, and though he jumped a bit, Jake was fully into the reining and western end of riding. While it reminded her of her father, it also made Heleena learn to like western riding ( though never straying away from her jumping in the process ). It wasn't long until Jake and Heleena became very close, best of friends, a brother-sister love of sorts. When Heleena was 13, Jake helped her pick out a horse to use for western riding since poor Teddy was quite confuzed with neck-reining and hopless in the actual reining. The horse she choose, with her mother's consent of course, was an AQH, one of Jake's breeds of choice, named Smooth Sailin'. The buckskin gelding, nicknamed Cowboy, was a young 3 year old at the time but full of potiental. Jake has been helping her train the young horse, as is her mother with her limited western knowledge.
Then came the day that Jake's father left to join the army. It was a difficult choice for Mr. Dawson - Jake's mother had died and they had no other realitives near-by. But instead of sending poor Jake all the way to Washington where his aunt lived, Rachel voulenteered to take care of Jake. So then Heleena gained her honorary brother and just a few months later it was announced that they were moving again, this time to the town of Roanoke Virginia, just a couple hours away. Rachel was hoping to get a job at a stables there since her current one fell out, so which Mr. Dawson, the Beckett family with the addition of Jake moved across the state.
