Wesley Daniel Preston

basic:
full name: Wesley Daniel Preston
nickname(s): Wes
age: 15
gender: male
role: riding student
riding level: intermediate
sexuality: straight
play-by: Matt Prokop
appearance:
Just like pretty Bella, Wes has inherited his mother's brown locks over his father's dirty blond mob. Though, its more straight than his sisters and it reaches just past his chin - he likes his hair a little longer than most boys. And even though it doesn't wave, the ends do a weird flip thing to one side - it has always done that and Wes has never been able to tame it (of course, he hasn't really tired since he doesn't really give a d**n about his hair). It isn't uncommon for his hair to be in his eyes, almost covering them; and you practically never see Wesley's forehead. Like I said, though, Wes isn't one to get all fussy with his hair and/or his appearance.
Both Bella and Wes are darker, both in skin tone and hair color - it really does stand out quite a bit next to the blond girls of the Thomson family. Unsurprisingly, Wes' eyes are round and deep brown, just like his sisters and his mom. Really, it almost seems as though he takes after Mary Anne more than Richard, which isn't a bad thing at all. His mother was a beauty and Wes doesn't disappoint - among girls he was cute, and now as he ages, the word handsome pops up a bit more. Though he has a bit of a harder look than his soft, unathletic sister and mother. His face is more narrow - wave good-bye to embarassing baby fat at last - with a strong jaw line and chin. His nose is a little big and a bit round looking and he has full lips. He wins the prize for being tanner than his sister, though she isn't too far behind - the Prestons darken easily in the sun.
Wesley was one of those kids who was tall for his age, yet just enough to stand out. Even though he was lanky, even gangly, no one ever used the word geeky when describing him - how could they with his beautiful mother who passed on such good looks to his pretty thing of a sister and himself. Still, in middle school he was thin, never very musclular, though he was an active participant in the basketball court. Wes is proud to say that he is much more in shape than Bella with his tone abs and arms, limited flab on his legs. Sure, he is still slight compared to other boys, but upon entering high school he seems to have enough weight and muscle to fit his tall frame, even though Wes is still called somewhat lanky, lean is starting to take over as puberty moves in.
personality:
While so similar in appearance, in temperment and personality, Bella and Wes are known to be opposites. He is the more mellow of the two, taking after his father. Wes isn't the type to strive for attention or to want to stand out. He doesn't care much to fight for positions on the social ladder, but he hasn't done bad even with his easy-going, move with the flow additude. While Bella is confident, somewhat self-absorbed Wes is quiet, understanding and overall a relaxing person to be around - unlike his sister, he isn't quick to judge or to get angry.
However, he also has the problem of being like an open book. He has almost no control at hiding his emotions, his poker face is non-existance. If he's angry or upset, you'll see it written ever so clearly on his face and in his eyes before you hear a word from his mouth. And, be thankful that it takes a lot to get his temper going - you usually have to actually try to make him mad while his sister in continually flaring her temper. Unlucky for you if you do get him mad because, unlike Bella who is quick to get mad but is hopless at actually staying mad, Wes can be quite the grudge-holder. He certianly isn't one to forgive-and-forget easily - he requires a huge apology, and even then it takes him a while to cool down. Thankfully, this is a process that doesn't happen very often.
history:
parents;;
Mary Anne Alice was the beauty of the school, the popular girl. She was also famous for being a flirt and went through boyfriends left and right. So everyone was surprised when she started to date Richard Preston in junior year and stayed with him through her own graduation, a year after his. Even stranger was when their relationship survived their first years of collage, and even though Mary Anne was blamed for having the 'wandering eye', she stayed with Richard.
Richard Preston had been in the solid not quite popular, but upper middle class in school. He dated a bit, though never had a serious relationship since he had his sights set on medical school and despertly wanted a scholarship, so he was focused on his studies. His first true girlfriend, meaning he went out on more then a few dates with her, was of course, Mary Anne. She was a year younger then him and known to be a flirt. He should have been bothered by this, but he was sucked into the glory of first love. He was pleased beyond belief when she stayed with him after his graduation, then after hers and into collage. After she had gone through two years of collage, he proposed, and they got married. Mary Anne dropped out, but Richard continued with med school and persueing his dream of becoming a doctor.
--------------------------
Annabelle was born two years later. They had waited since Mary Anne hadn't been all that excited about having kids right after getting married, but she found that her little Bella was a joy. Mary Anne had never gotten a job of her own, but soon enough Richard got a wonderful job at a hospital and a rather hefty paycheck. A year after Bella was born that the couple had another baby, this time a little boy. Wesley was as cute as a button and much loved by Mary Anne. She found she enjoyed her new motherhood, despite never really being into it before.
Most of Bella and Wes's childhood was pretty average. They hung out with friends, moved to a different neighborhood, etc. Normal, right? Wes started getting interesting in horse riding - actually, he had liked horses since a toddler. Mary Anne, of course, wasn't all that pleased but she didn't argue, much, when Richard signed little Wes up for riding lessons during middle school. Much to everyone's surprise, Bella started getting active in horse riding as well and loved it. Even though she wasn't a very paitent person and took a lot of care into her appearance, she let her composure go in the stables.
Just recently, in the past year or so, Mary Anne started to drift. Soon enough, the family realized her infamous "wandering eye" had resurfaced and she was in fact having an affair. Bella was had the harshest reaction. She felt betrayed and hurt and therefore shunned her mother, refusing to speak to her and is actually going against her usual tendency as a horrible grudge-holder. Wes, angry at first, soon accepted the divorce and is grateful for Richard's new wife and family - he believes his father is much happier now and Wes himself likes the Thomson half of the new family. Bella accepts them, which is the most surprising, though Wes believes she has some trouble fitting in and finding her place. It helps that all four teenagers share a common interest, horses, which is considered the safe conversation topic.
