-- Her face was one that held excitment and she could barely keep her legs from carrying her into a run. Malory had drapped two halters over her arm, her fingers topped with cleanly cut fingernails running over the fabric, the small metal plate in one side. Miss O'Connor had never asked her father for much, at least in matieral items. She was perfectly fine with her plain clothes - they looked fine anyways, so why spend two hundred dollors on jeans when she could fine good ones even cheaper. The sky blue, form fitting long sleeved shirt with a white jacket and blue jeans, a light blue knit hat covering her dark waves, looked just how she liked : simple, yet nice. However, after she got her dream of owning her beautiful horses, Malory allowed herself to work to pay for one little fancy thing. New halters with her equine's names engraved in the metal plates. -- Now, Mal was fully informed that horses didn't understand the concept of peace offerings, but she could pretend. Honey and Napolean could care less whether their halters were new or fancy or whatever. Her plan was to ease a little of her guilt, of not coming to visit her horses for about a week, by marveling at them wearing their new halters - and maybe offer them an apple or two. Malory's lips were shapped into an attractive smile and her blue tinted green eyes were glowing. Side by side were two bi-colored heads, expressive eyes watching her foot falls with interest. Their eyes were liquid, drowning her, and Malory could swear she saw joy, not an accusing look. This realization of course broadened her smile. Maybe it was just these two, but it seemed to her that horses rarely held grudges. -- "Hey you two. I missed you, but I brought presents!" The positive lift in her light soprano voice was not forced, her joy real. She clipped the halters into place, both a lightly colored leather and both smelled wonderful - like that strong scent that greets you when you step into a tack room. After she had finished the task, Malory grabbed a cotton lead robe and leaned against the stall door, resting her elbows on the top of the door. Malory had to ride both, get them some sort of exercise, since she had practically abandoned them for a few days. Her blue green eyes flickered between her two paints, one palomino, the other brown, both mostly white. From experience she knew that Honey would be the calmer of the two, a bit high spirited and forward, but she would settled down soon enough. Napolean on the other hand, was her newer horse and so far he proved to be a bit more prone to shying and bucking when he was fresh and unworked. He beautiful jumping and impecciable dressage form made up for his antics, but she wasn't sure who to ride first. She heaved a sigh, thinking as she examined both in their new stalls. A hard choice indeed.

CADEN WALSH;; ________________________________________________________
The sound of boots on the floor echoed softly as a black haired boy entered the stable. He had his hands shoved into the front pockets of his jeans, a dark green hoodie sweatshirt covering his upper body. His black hair was ruffled, like a mixture of bed-head and wind blown, though the shaggy like strands were clean - freshly washed this morning. The pale white of his skin seeming to glow even lighter in deep contrast to his dyed hair. Caden Walsh was walking slowly, without purpose or reason, just turning his head to peer at the horses who had noticed him with light brown eyes. His eyes didn't seek out any horse in perticular, like a dedicated horse owner's would. Ha, he didn't even have his own horse. Which made no sense at all since his sister, his twin sister, had her own pretty gelding. Still, he got to lease one of Autumn Hill's beauties, a paint named Tobi whom he has riden a grand total of two times.
So, as you could guess, this was Caden's third venture to the stables. He still wasn't used to the green hills and forests after living in Colorado for all of his seventeen years. He wasn't even sure why he was here. All he knew was that he defiantly didn't want to go shopping or whatever with his twin sister and his cousin. So, being the outcast, he couldn't think of anything better to do then wander around Autumn Hills in his hours of solitude. He heaved a sigh as he came to a stop at an empty stall, the name tag on the door reading Tobi. Of course the paint would be turned out in one of the several pastures that spanned over several acres when he decided to show up. Caden thought about bringing him in - after all he was working his ass of too pay for his lease, so he should be able to ride the gelding when he wanted. But in all honestly, the dark haired boy wasn't motivated enough to wander through large pastures.
He continued down the aisle, slowing when he saw a large gray mare and a black and white paint - Breezy and Raven, his cousin's two horses. He wondered if Sam would get mad if he took out one of her horses. He was certain Heleena would be furious if he took out Cash, her palomino gelding, without asking. Still, he was tempted, his brown eyes glazed as he compaired the ups and downs. He was close to making a decision when he heard a voice, defiantly female. Twisting his body he saw a lone figure standing in front of two paints - was she talking to her horses? Now, Caden was usually a quiet guy, but he was a boy and the girl was attractive, he couldn't help noticing. And honestly, he didn't have anything else to do.
So he started the distance to the girl. She was pretty, and tiny, he saw. She was dressed plainly, which he liked - how annoying those girls who stressed over how they looked 24/7 were. He wasn't sure, but she looked like one of those girls who wasn't too concerned about her looks. Coming to a halt, he leaned slightly on one of the stalls and smiled. "They look absolutely thrilled with their presents - but I have to admitt, those halters are nice." His light brown eyes shone good naturally and his smile was kind, letting her know he wasn't making fun of her. He looped his tumbs in the front pockets of his jeans, feeling relaxed even though he wasn't known to be very talkative. "I'm Caden Walsh, by the way." He paused, letting her jump in with her own name or whatever she wanted to say, or not say; just waiting.

-- In all honesty, Malory just wasn't expecting to hear a voice, espeically one right next to her. Sure, she was talking to her horses, but she didn't think someone would actually reply. Plus, it escaped her mind that this was a barn and people do come here. So, when a voice, male she barely noticed, sounded next to her she flinched, a small jump of surprise even though the cadence was soft. Twisting her body at the slightest of angles, she saw a boy standing next to her, looking so... relaxed. "Hi." She managed a single word, the tone a bit strangled as a gush of breath rushed through parted lips. Of course, that was when she realized how foolish she must seem, jumping when this boy, Caden? was just trying to be friendly. Right on cue, the skin of her cheeks darkened a bit and she dipped her head down a bit, letting the maghony waves of her hair fall over her shoulders. -- Malory quickly recovered from her little spook, the thud of her heard slowed down at least - her pride was a whole different story. She peered back up the boy, still quite embarssed. His body language was calm, relaxed, meaning he was just looking for friendly conversation and his goal wasn't to give her a heard attack - at least, thats what Malory assumed. "Sorry. Obviously I wasn't expecting anyone to be here." She owed the boy an explaination so he wouldn't think she was a mental, or a complete one. Malory smiled faintly, turning her head to look at Honey. Of course, the mare was totally unaffected - she was just chewing on her hay contently, no problems here. Her lips pursed slightly, in a thoughtful way. Now what? -- Soft eyes, that may be blue or may be green, flew to the boy's face. Malory was trying to decide whether she should even try to talk to the boy or if enough damage had been done. He looked nice. He was probably paler than her, which was surprising since Malory didn't exactly have a nice tan either. Or maybe it was his black hair that made his skin look more wan. She also took in his eyes, the color surprising. She wasn't sure what she was expecting, but that light color wasn't it. What color is it anyway? Butterscotch? It was then that she noticed she had basically left him hanging - Caden had introduced himself, she hadn't. "Um, I'm Malory. O'Connor." With another glance at Honey, Malory felt an awkward silence creeping in. Now, usually she wasn't one who minded quiet, but this was a bit unsettling. "So, I'm assuming you're a student here? Do you have a horse here?"

Caden hadn't been expecting the girl to jump. Sure, he was different but was he really that scary? His eyebrows rose, his only sign of surprise. He remained in his relaxed posture, waiting patiently for the girl to get her bearings. He wondered if she would be the quiet type and try to forgive and forget, or if she would get angry and snappy. With a sister like his, Caden had experience with the latter. He had even gotten slapped by Heleena a few times - though he had to admit that it was his fault really since he did try to sneak up on his sister. It was funny seeing his twin jump then stand there fuming angerly. Luckily the girl was the first type. She seemed very embarssed and he manged to catch the blush on her cheeks before she hid her face. He bit his lip a moment, feeling a bit shameful. He hoped he hadn't scared her away. He really hadn't ment to frighten her.
Of course, the girl apologized, which made Caden feel worse. He shook his head before she had even finished her sentence. "Nope. Blame's on me - I snuck up you after all. I didn't mean to scare you." His words were close to an apology and he hoped she accepted it. His oddley colored eyes gazed unwavingly at her face, waiting for some sort of reaction. Now what? Caden felt as though he should let the girl talk first. He waited very patiently, not pushing. Finally she spoke, in a soft voice he was already recongizing as her usual tone. Malory. Pretty name. It was relatively common, but still nice. He nodded, eyes not straying from her face. He had a habit of looking people in the eye, and he was quite good at it he thought smugly. Some people found it uncomfortable, so with this is mind he force his eyes to slid to the pretty horses who had recived the presents.
His light eyes turned back to Malory after she spoke again. He nodded, trying to shake his black hair out of his eyes before speaking. "I'm a student, I guess. Well, I'm leasing one of the horses here, so I don't know if that makes me a student or not." He shrugged, unconcerned. He really didn't care much if he was a student or not, as long as he could ride that is. "So, obviously I don't own a horse, and the one I am leasing is missing in action." He gestured with his head to the empty stall, which still did not hold the paint Tobi. He sighed softly before looking back at Malory. "I'm pretty new here - how about you? Been riding here long?" he asked, trying to keep up a conversation. He was bored and didn't want to stand all by himself, besides Malory was nice, not to mention pretty.
