If Sam gets anything from his mother, it would be his eyes. At least, if you go by the pictures. Anna was a thin woman, with black hair and piercing blue eyes. Such as color is hard to describe, but Sam has his mother's eyes, exactly. Right from the darker exterior lining to the light, clear color that surrounds his dark pupils. His eyes always seem to stand out, like a blinking beacon that people just can not seem to be able to ignore. It is a pretty color, Sam admits, but his eyes always seem cool and calculating, almost unsettling to some people, even when he is a light and happy mood. His father used to say they were cold and would exclaim, "You're eyes are ice, just like hers!", refereeing of course, to Anna. Sam has never had a problem with his eyes, and girls seem to like them, so what can you do?° h a i r //
Sam has declared on more than one occasion that his hair is simply unmanageable. But really, the actual guy who puts any effort into styling his hair isn't all that common. This was especially true in his younger years, during middle school and high school, where he couldn't care less if his hair was parted this way or that, or if it just lay in a disorganized mess. He found that some girls liked his look, so he saw no reason to change. Recently, he has been putting in more of an effort. Sam will comb his hair after getting out of the shower, and for special events he will even run some gel through, not just enough to get a good ( natural looking ) sculpt that didn't look greasy. Really, who likes greasy looking hair? Certainly not Sam. As for the color, he rather takes after his father in his dark brown color.° f r a m e //
Of an average height, Sam's build is considered muscular. He is the type of person who goes to gym with only intentions to get some "me" time and to stay healthy. He succeeds; the muscle on his body out-ratios the fat. Although he certainly is nowhere near the size of a bodybuilder, Sam has broad shoulders, fit arms and noticeable muscles along his abdomen. Along with all of this, Sam is one of those types who tans quite easily, so he has a nice shade going for him almost year-round.° s t y l e //
Sam likes to dress nicely, although he doesn't choose out top designer models - he reaches a nice middle ground with his jeans and pants, the nice fitting sweaters and shirts and his nice looking jackets. His work clothes consist of jeans and a t-shirt or older shirt. He defiantly isn't one of those people who wears riding breeches and tall boots - just jeans and old boots with a cowboy-like style for him.

Trent Aldridge and Anna Turner are polar opposites. He is the realible, stick to the schedule type who hesitated to do anything out of routine. Anna, on the other hand, was a party girl, drawn to wild social gatherings and the queen of the unexpected and impulse decisions. It really is quite a chance that they met, since their social circles didn't touch, were no where near each other. Trent, on the verge of graduating collage and intending to start training to take over the family architect business, was just wondering how his friends managed to talk him into coming to this party with booming music and a huge crowd when he saw Anna. She was a beauty, with her untameable black hair, her cold blue eyes and her wild energy. Of course he was attracted to her; everyone was. But, as it were, they started talking and one thing led to another. By the time he left that night, Trent was sure he would never see Anna again, since he was four years her senior and he was leaving collage while she was just starting. But no, four months later, after he had just moved into his new house and had started at the family business, guess who showed up at his doorsteps, pregnant.
Apparently, after Anna discovered the big news, she broke it to her parents, who were extremely angry. After a huge arguement, which resulted in Anna leaving her parent's house after she swore she wouldn't get an abortion, she looked up Trent and journeyed to his house. He welcomed her in of course, though he was about numb with shock. Trent was at a loss of what to do, but eventually they decided that Anna would move and they would "try this pregnancy thing". It was a backwards sort of way to get to know another person, but they did discover that they really did love each other. Thus, the two got married, with the baby due in just a month. It wasn't long after that Anna was being rushed to the hospital, where she gave birth to a little, screaming boy sprouting dark hair.° c h i l d h o o d //
The early years - well, the only years - of Trent and Anna's marriage were wonderful. They played the part of a happy family with Trent making plans with the busniness and bring in money while Anna had fun being a mother. The first couple of months after Sam was born were exhausting, espically since the young couple had no idea how exactly to be a parent and what to do when such and such happened. But, eventually they got their feet under them and they were a happy family. After a few years, things started to go sour. Anna was restless and she felt as though she had given up her whole life. She began focusing conversations on how she had had plans, she had wanted to travel. But now, she was stuck at home with a toddler. Trent tried to mend things, ease her yearnings to get around and journey by planning a vacation for just the two of them. Leaving Sam with Trent's parents, the couple went to Europe, where things were wonderful and it seemed as though everything was back to normal; everyone was happy.
They even got a second child out of this trip, unplanned, but nine months later, just after Sam's fifth birthday, Anna delivered a little baby, this time a girl. Trent was happy beyond belief, as any father would be, and he was sure that Anna's second chance to mother a baby, little Allieah, would make her as happy as when Sam was an infant. Sadly, it had the opposite effect. Just eight months later, Anna packed and left while everyone was gone: Trent was at work, Sam at kindergarden, and Allieah at the babysitters. Trent suddenly found himself the single parent of two young children whose mother had seemingly disappeared ( she did, however, leave signed divorce papers on the counter. ) Just like when Anna first showed up on his doorstep, Trent was at a lost at what to do. What did one do in this situation, exactly? I'll tell you what Trent did. He called up his parents, and his mother moved in for a while to take care of the children while Trent worked to bring in money, though cash flow was never short.° p r e t e e n //
Sam was twelve, Allieah was seven, when they moved to this large house in a new development Trent was planning. Their grandmother long moved out, and once he was old enough, Sam was expected to help out with things around the house and watching his sister. Now, he is quite the cook, and he and Allieah are very close. It was around this time that Trent brought home the new girlfriend, Sasha, who he had managed to keep a secret from his children. Sam was shocked and angry, sure that his father was trying to replace his mother. Allieah, however, since she was too young to remember her mom, welcome the woman in their home. Sadly, Sasha didn't last very long, though Trent wasted no time inviting in another girlfriend, the peppy Mary-Ann. Then there was another girlfriend, and another. Trent always seemed to have another girl lined up, who always moved in with them for a short time before leaving with a usually huge scene. To put it plainly, Sam was getting annoyed and angry at his father's hopeless attempts of a family.
It got to the point where Sam delayed coming home, not because he was avoiding his dad ( Trent was at work for long hours, so he was rarely home anyway ), but because he hated what the large, empty house with the awaiting current girlfriend signified. He was angry that his family was never normal, or complete. It was broken, in his eyes, and after endless exposure of failing relationships, Sam found he didn't understand the meaning of friends or girlfriends. He enfolded into himself, shielding his thoughts and feelings, himself, from the world and he grew guarded and reserved. The only person he loved was Allieah and his friends were few and far between. The few close friends he ever had he was extremely close too. Once he opened up, he stayed opened. So, instead of coming home after school, Sam starting wandering around, looking for something to occupy his time to delay going home. Eventually, he found a local stable, where they agreed to let him work in exchange for lessons. Of course, his father could afford the lessons, but Sam didn't want to ask his father for the money. He wanted to be independent.° t e e n & u p //
Sam continued working and riding at the stables, telling no one, until one day Allieah tagged along since Trent was currently in the middle of a big fight with his current girlfriend and the house had a dangerous, tense feeling to it. Of course, Allieah was also drawn to the horses and started to tag along more and more. She was too young to work at the stable, so she was the one who revealed the horses to Trent, pleading for money to pay for the lessons. Sam was angry that she brought his secret out of the dark, but his sister was the one person he couldn't stay mad at for long. Trent was surprisingly ok with the horse riding, but Sam honestly thought he was too distracted with his work to give the riding much thought. Trent surprised them even more when he agreed to pay for a horse for Allieah. Sam tested his father's generosity by asking for a horse of his own, and his father agreed, distracted of course. The boy was seventeen at the time, and he soon found the perfect buy, since at the time he asked, he wasn't sure who he had wanted to buy.
Moon was a misfit of sorts, with the look of a draft horse and a large head. He was handsome in his way, but the gelding would never win a beauty contest, so he was unwanted by most. Expect for Sam. Sam loved the graying gelding, who was still quite green, but Sam saw himself in the gelding. Blue Moon wasn't affectionate or social, hard to trust, but he was different from the boy in a sense that he was calm and sane, not the angry type. But with time, Sam also found the biggest similarity of all. Moon had been abandoned by his owner, like Sam his mother, and therefore his trust in humans had faltered. Yet, once he did learn to trust someone, it was for life. So, Moon became Sam's first horse, and believe me, it took a lot of time, sweat and even blood for Sam to get the horse to trust him. And eventually, they were partners for life. The change wasn't over-night, it was very gradual. It started out with little things, like a nicker of familiarality, not running away in the field and finally walking up to the boy.
Sam kept Moon when he went to college, though he did move out of the state ( from Kentucky to West Virginia ). His father kept sending money, which Sam resented at first. It was just another thing that kept him connected to the man, but when he realized that he needed the money, he stopped argueing. He even starting putting some aside for another horse, though he ended up with two. Sam moved to Roanoke, Virginia after graduating college where he rents an apartment. The summer after her final year of high school, Allieah moved in with Sam, since they might possibly be the closest siblings in the world and both were fed up with their father's endless stream of girlfriends and Trent's commitment issues. Sam got a job at the local stable, even though the cash keeps flowing from their father.
