xx___ it was coming apparent that kadience was just not going to settle down easily. as he watched the beautiful mare, parker couldn't help but notice how well romeo was behaving at that moment. sure he had been a real grouch, really bad tempered, at the beginning of the ride but he calmed down quite a bit - it was so unusual that parker was feeling a bit suspicious. he almost expected the stallion to all of the sudden whirl around and buck or something, pulling a gotcha. thankfully, the stallion didn't try anything; romeo really did seem to be enjoying the ride. there, right at the moment his sides heaved in a sigh, surprising parker a bit. the sound was much softer than his more harsher noises. of course, when kadience decided to do a little half rear, romeo slid to a stop and snorted, lifting his head in the air to peer at the mare with suspicion.
it seemed odd that romeo thought he could get away with his grumpy behavior, but he appeared to be impaitent when other horses acted up - or annoyed. whatever the cause, his velvet soft ears disappeared into his halo of black mane when kadience started her bucking show. he lifted his head so high, parker leaned forward slightly to try and prevent the stallion from rearing. his brows pushed together, casting a shadow over his blue eyes. he whispered under his breath, forming words that only romeo could hear. the stallion seemed reluctant to obey, but at least he didn't try to bite or kick - his ears did remain hidden. parker tightened the reins, keeping firm contact on the stallion's mouth, a silent reminder that parker was in charge. backing up a bit, the brown haired boy tried to give delany and her horse some space. maybe kadience was feeling crowded?
by the time parker looked up, delany had slid off and was examining her mare's back. he waited silently as delany moved on to checking kadience's hoofs, obviously for rocks or anything else that could cause a sore spot. she must have found something since she went to work prying it out. when she looked up, parker smiled at her amused expression, laughing at her statement. with the girl back in the saddle and the two horses moving back on the trail, delany started the conversation where they left off. he nodded as she echoed his sentence, silently confirming. parker's lips turned into a half smile as she mentioned jupiter being from her father's horse. "so your father rode hanoverians too?" parker asked, remembering delany had said jupiter was a hano, as she put it. honestly he was relieved for a chance to change topic from his parents; he was afraid delany would start getting curious about the way he constently talked in past tense. _______________

Delany sat quietly in the saddle as the mare, slowly, began to settle down. She shook her head. "We're not used to this whole woods thing, are we girl?" the brunette murmured to the big mare. "That's it" she said as the mare finally gave a quiet snort, her ears flicking half back to that relaxed position that horses have.
"so your father rode hanoverians too?" Delany laughed a bit. "My dad will ride pretty much anything with four legs" she responded. "But his main mount for a long time was a Hanoverian mare, yes. A Capella." She smiled a bit. "She was a pretty great old horse. A big old gray mare, really sweet temperament." She chuckled a bit. "She was one of those horses that just put her heart out on the course every time. Anyway, she only had the one colt, Jupiter, before she got really sick. Cancer, I think. Dad had to put her down. He was really depressed. It's like, the only time I've ever seen him cry" She smiled a little sadly. "So I'm sure you can see why Jupe is such a special boy. It was a huge surprise when Dad gave him to me. I figured he'd keep him, since that's like only thing he has left of Capella." She shrugged. "He's more like his sire anyway, though, so maybe he wasn't enough of a reminder" She laughed and shook her head.
She glanced over at Parker, lifting her eyebrows a bit in a silent question before nudging Kadience up into a canter. The mare stayed at a slow pace, snapping her legs up farther than she needed to in a fancy Dressage type canter. "Show off" Delany murmured with a shake of her head and a roll of her eyes, tightening her calves until the mare lengthened out into a normal canter. Delany tipped her head back slightly as the wind rushed through her hair. It had been ages since she had done anything like this. She glanced at Parker again and laughed, nudging Kadience faster and faster until they were at an all out gallop. The ground was only a blur beneath Kadience's pounding hooves, and the wind was fast tangling Delany's hair. She would be hard pressed to get a brush through it when they got back, but oh well. She would worry about that when the time came. Right now she was caught up in the moment, flying along on horseback pretty much faster than she'd ever really pushed Kadi, the wind so strong it whipped her breath away and made it hard to breathe...
